What's Your Story?
T
his year, Ive deeply considered the idea of the story we tell ourselves - as a community or as individuals. Acclaimed novelist, poet and performer Sandra Cisneros said, You cant erase what you know. You cant forget who you are. What you tell yourself about your story - your past, your present and your potential - will always define who you become and how quickly. After 30 years of serving this wonderful community, the Hispanic Network Magazine is so proud of the shape our story has taken. Were so thankful for the irreplaceable part each of you played in ge@ing us here. In this issue, were honored to once again feature the formidable Rita Moreno, an actress, EGOT achiever, author and icon. As someone who can speak personally to the growth and shifts in America's Hispanic community over the past 30 years, Moreno is a passionate advocateformoreequityandinclusionofLatinxvoicesineveryindustryandiceofour nation. I have a deep love for my people, Moreno said. I love who we are, and I love what we represent, because we represent deep values. I love our food; I love our music; I am never unaware of the Latin-ness of all of that. For more from this living legend, read our cover story on page 88. If you're looking to make the next chapter of your story better than the last, don't forget to read some of Mark Cuban's strategies anyone can use to be successful on page 50 and, for more inspiration, one Latina certified small business owner's amazing story about Rising to the Top on page 66. Every part of our lives and experience makes us unique and informs who we choose to be. We encourage you to show up authentically in every space and choose to be your most honest self.
