JANET MURGUA
From business to civil rights, Janet Murgua has dedicated her life to advocating for the Hispanic community in every aspect. She is the president of UnidosUS, one of the largest Hispanic civil rights advocacy organizations in the country, and has held integral leadership roles in communities working to better the lives of Hispanic Americans. Murgua currently serves as a board member of the Independent Sector, a coalition of nonprofits, foundations and corporations, and is an executive committee member of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights. She also sits on the board of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility, the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda and on the advisory board of the National Hispanic University. Murgua has also held positions working for important government officials such as former Kansas Congressman Jim Slattery, former Vice President Al Gore and former President Bill Clinton.

For the last 30 years, the Hispanic Network Magazine has celebrated the triumphs and successes of the Hispanic and Latinx communities in every aspect. While so much positive change has occurred since we began in 1992, we wanted to highlight just a few of the individuals bringing Hispanic pride, representation and equality to the forefront.

EVA LONGORIA
Though shes best known for her work as an actress in shows such as Desperate Housewives , Eva Longoria is one of the biggest activists in the Hollywood scene today. She has advocated for a plethora of Hispanic-focused issues in politics such as immigration, voting rights and workers rights. In 2012, Longoria founded the Eva Longoria Foundation, an organization solely dedicated to bringing opportunities for education and entrepreneurship to Latinas. She also founded the Latino Victory Project, which worked to raise funds for candidates and efforts for voting rights. Longoria additionally participates in a wide variety of business and philanthropic efforts from opening restaurants, designing clothes and writing cookbooks to founding her own production company, working with organizations helping those with disabilities and helping establish the National Museum of the American Latino.
